Kizoa Creations

Kizoa is an Online Slideshow maker where you can insert your own pictures an create a multimedia slideshow. This website is fun and very simple to use. Its allows you to put music, animations and effects of your slideshow.

I decided to create my Kizoas on a student body Christmas party that took place at SC State, and the SC State Bulldogs on campus. Both of these slideshows showcase the great things that are happening at South Carolina State University!

Electronic Media Production II

....That's a wrap!

During my time here at South Carolina State University I've had the opportunity to take various courses in the area of Broadcasting Communications. I've taken social media classes, television classes, and journalism classes. However, Electronic Media Production has been one of my favorite courses! In this this class we've been able to explore different social media cites and even build our own blogs. This is a very creative class that shows you different ways you can tell a story and brand yourself.

Twitter @GetLikeBri
Twitter is one of the social media sites we utilized this semester. Twitter is great in order to see whats going on in the media, and have your own voice. I've had a twitter since 2013 and I love to log on to see the latest trending topics, videos, and even memes. I think that Twitter is a great way to stay informed and get news quickly. I love to follow E News, CNN, and various celebrities and entertainers. Some of these celebrities include, Oprah, Keke Palmer, and Drake. One of my latest tweets was about going home for the Holidays, I said, "So excited about this winter break."

In my opinion, Linked in was the most useful social media sites that we worked with in this course. This being because LinkedIn allows you to build an online portfolio and showcase your talents, assets, and job experience. Many internship and job applications request that you provide a link to your LinkedIn in page. So its imperative that students and young professionals crate a LinkedIn profile. Your profile is your online resume. I think that LinkedIn is great because it connects people on a professional level and allows them to network. I've been able to connect with some of my classmates; SC State University's President, Dr. Franklin Evans, and even my Professor, Mr. Harwood.

Prezi is like PowerPoint's cool sophisticated cousin. Prezi allows for you to make a presentation with pictures, videos and music. The difference between PowerPoint and Prezi is that Prezi has more transitions, and is a more creative way to give a presentation. I think Prezi is great in the way that it's different from your traditional boring slideshow. When I created my first Prezi in this class, it was somewhat difficult. From my experience, Prezi can be hard to grasp a hold of in the beginning but once you play around with it it get easier.

This semester I was also able to use our green screen studio and iMovie to create different videos. Our "Quick Takes" project allowed for me to talk over a video clip using the picture in picture option in iMovie. In my video project I used a clip of some of my favorite things; this included Drake, New York, and The Wizard Of Oz. I talked about why these are some of favorite people and things and what they mean to me. This was fun for me because I was able to give commentary on the clips and I thought it was a creative way to talk about them, rather than just doing a voice over.

Kizoa is a website where you can create a picture slide using graphics, music, and animation. Kizoa is a great way to make a creative and fun slideshow presentation.  It's very easy and simple to use, especially for beginners. The first Kizoa project I created was a slideshow showcasing the various Bulldogs on SC State's campus. I took pictures of statues, and various things featuring the SC State Bulldog. I also did my presentation on a student body Christmas drop-in that took place on campus. Kizoa allowed me to make this presentation festive and great for the Holiday Season. In my opinion, this website is a great way to showcase pictures from events, photo-shoots, trips, and other special occasions.

Electronic Media Production II was such a fun and informative course. I appreciate everything that Mr. Harwood taught myself and class. We were able to learn about different social media sites, and how we can use them to our advantage. Using Blogger allowed for me to hone my writing skills and using  LinkedIn allowed for me to update my professional profile and resume. These are just some of the things that I was able to do while being in this course. I will definitely be able to use this information to my advantage in my future endeavors. As a journalist I believe that it's important to be able to be creative, and innovative in the way that you tell a story, and this class has helped me to do that.

Random Favorites

So, I had another assignment that allowed me to explore some fun and creative things that I can do with video clips. A part of this assignment was to film a video of yourself talking about a topic, or something you may be interested in.

I choose to talk about some of my favorite things. And I'll admit, it's a pretty random list. I don't think Drake and The Wizard of Oz have ever been in the same sentence until now. I hope you enjoy a visual list of my favorite rapper, city, and childhood movie.

The Sky Is The Limit!

I recently had the chance to create a Prezi. I can admit, at first it was somewhat challenging, but after I got the hang of it it was fun. Prezi is like PowerPoint's cool cousin. I think it gives the chance for your presentation to be far more interactive to your audience.

I'm not going to say that I've completely given up on PowerPoint, but I will be using Prezi in the future. I did my latest presentation on my top ten goals in life. Check them out above, and remember, the sky is the limit!

Hey there, I'm Brianna!

Just a little about me...

Hey, my name is Brianna Simmons and I am currently a senior Broadcast Communications major at South Carolina State University. When I'm not busy with work, I love shooting news stories, participating in campus organizations, and supporting my University in any way possible. My career goal is to work as an entertainment news correspondent and reporter.

I love all things media and television, and have spent the last couple of years trying to get experience in my field and perfect my craft. I also enjoy spending time with family and loved ones whenever I have free time. I've learned that life is all about surrounding yourself with love and positivity, and those that celebrate you.

I hope to not only inspire but to impact others on my journey to success. One of my favorite quotes is, "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything." My goal is to always stand for something, and to make a difference in this world through the grace of God.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy my blog!

The World of Twitter

I have to admit that when twitter first became popular, I wasn't at all interested in creating an account.  I asked those who were apart of the popular site, "Why do you care what what people are doing?" I just didn't understand the point of always seeing what others were doing and for everyone to see what your always doing as well.

Fast forward to a few years later and I tweet almost once or a few times a day. When I decided to join Twitter, I looked at it from a networking aspect. Being a broadcast communications major I felt that it was important for me too be a part of social networking and to know whats going on in my community and the world. Plus it was also fun and entertaining to be apart of.

Over the past few years I've seen Twitter grow tremendously. A site that was first created in 2006 to keep people updated with daily instant status posts, is now one of the number one news sources. People now use twitter for news updates, entertainment, and keeping up to date with world leaders and their favorite celebrities. Twitter has definitely created a new way to seek news, and allow people across the world to connect with the tap of an icon.

I love to use twitter for news, trending topics, and daily inspiration. Some of the profiles I follow are CNN, and also my schools official page for up to the date news and information about campus news and events. I also follow Joel Osteen, and Iyanla Vanzant for inspiration and daily advice. I like for my timeline to be filled with useful information and positivity.

Twitter, just like any other social media outlet can very useful and helpful if used the correct way. If you love to network, express your opinion, and stay up to date on news, then I say give Twitter a try.

Devante Williams is now a sophomore at South Carolina State University, where he is majoring in Broadcasting Communications. I was able to interview him about his dreams, aspirations, hobbies, and interests.

Oh, hey Beyonce!

Just a little green screen fun I did in class today. We took a picture in front of a green screen and then afterward we had to put our picture "where we wanted to be." So naturally I put my picture on the red carpet interviewing Beyonce'! It is my dream job to work in the entertainment industry as a news correspondent, either on the field or in the studio. Interviewing celebrities, politicians, and highly influential people is definitely what I hope to be doing in the future. You can never dream too big!

Linked In, A New Age in Social Media

LinkedIn, A New Age in Social Media

LinkedIn is basically a place for everyone to showcase their professional resume, connect with business professionals, and the people you they may know. To me, its really one of the most beneficial social media's being used right now. LinkedIn is a great way to network with people, and build an online portfolio.

Another great thing about LinkedIn is that it is not only used by business professionals but top notch companies looking for employees. One thing I really appreciate about this site is the fact that it serves as a job database as well. New openings and positions are constantly being posted and updated. I can admit, it does take a little while to perfect and get your LinkedIn profile exactly right.

From personal experience when you start you'll always be wanting to update it and make it better. From some of the profiles that I've seen I think that the number one thing people need to do is stay up to date, explain in detail their accomplishments, and be professional and authentic. Personally, I want my profile to showcase my strengths and abilities to be an asset to any professional endeavor I pursue.
